Peace of Chaos!

Welcome Dear Readers!

Last October, I was invited to exhibit in the summer of 2026, at the Narrows Center For Arts in Fall River, MA. This solo show offering, taking place in their Café Gallery, came after participating in the Seekonk Open Studios and being visited by one of the Cafe Gallery team members. At the studio event I had shared “pieces of me” with a fledgling project of quilling artwork that was a byproduct of easing panic and anxiety during extremely difficult times. Years earlier I had been pleased to discover that the tactile focus that’s required to twist and turn the thin strips of paper, reduced the anxious racing thoughts that paralyzed me. Eventually jars of loose colorful swirls started piling up…I then discovered gluing them to canvas panels provided another means to quiet the chaos and Winding To Unwind was born!

So the Narrows show invitation delighted and excited me, and truth be told intimidated me to think about “putting myself out there”! Following my heart I graciously accepted the amazing opportunity. During preparation for this upcoming show I became intrigued by “pieces” beyond just the quilling. I realized the peace I received going through vintage sewing tins was worth pursuing. My Nana’s tin, a friend’s grandmother’s, then another friend’s family tin, all became mini playgrounds for my mind and fingers. The history that flows as my hands dive into a tin of buttons and artfully arrange in frames, also brings a welcoming calm…oh and the tiny sounds of clink and clatter as I poor buttons on the table and back in the tin….priceless!

The stories I spin now while creating with vintage pieces, bring comfort as I get lost in possibilities. Perhaps living in a 320 year old farm house, has me rooted in daydreams of years gone by - which also allows me to get lost in thought…..in a good way! Through this creative part of my journey, I have discovered that as conversation of anxiety are shared and we feel less alone, we are able to welcome the new day with hope!

It’s now summer of 2026! and time for your invitation….I invite you to check out the Peace of Chaos show! Whether you are able to attend the Artist Reception or during other business hours….there’s personal exploring to be done. It’s time to tap into your own Peace Of Chaos! Reach out to chat with me if you’d like to discover what may ease your racing thoughts!

Best Always,

Maria
