Peace of Chaos pt.3

Mending The Past

Mending The Past

Artful series rooted in years gone by, lessons learned & changes made.

Building off my previous two blog posts…….Incorporating vintage pieces with quilling and collaging had a natural flow. It spoke to my desire of working with tactile pieces that brought/bring me peace. The process once again slows me down to focus on what is in front of me. Dancing my fingers through an old tin full of buttons, pins and rick raff creates a peaceful and welcomed need to create and quiet the chaos.

There is a daydreaming component that takes place when we allow ourselves the opportunity to slow down and exhale! Learning how to incorporate the calm on a daily basis is essential, in some capacity!

I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to speak with many people who gift me their family relics to create with. I hear stories of strength, living through the depression and even one friend shared how her grandmother and women in their house would not put their “lady garments” on the clothesline to dry until the men of the house went out to farm the land. Oh how far we have come.

I am very excited to be hosting a workshop at the Narrows Center For The Arts on October 24th where attendees will hear a brief introduction about the importance of our own well being, along with samples of “why” & “how” to achieve it. We will then roll up our sleeves and explore vintage supplies! The group will then make individual inspirational boards as they share peaceful space and create with others, as a means of embracing personal wellbeing.

Absolutely no artful experience needed, because we are going to awaken something you didn’t even know was in there!

Something I say to clients, which I will share at the workshop is the importance to:

“Keep your heart and mind open”. Doing so allows for all kinds of magic to happen.
